The Commonwealth in World Trade

The recovery in world economic activity in 1972 from the relatively depressed level of the previous year was the chief factor in promoting a substantial upturn in the rate of growth of world exports, from 10 per cent to about 15 per cent as measured in sterling; the value of Commonwealth exports is estimated to have risen somewhat more slowly over this period, by 8.5 per cent in 1971 and 11 per cent in 1972.
