The Law Against Family Planning: A Commonwealth Survey

Medical science has provided important new methods of family planning (FP). In so far as some of these operate after the moment of fertilisation, or even after implantation is complete, they appear to infringe the criminal law relating to abortion as it exists in many Commonwealth countries. This is because the crime of abortion, in the form in which most Commonwealth countries have it, extends to any conduct directed towards a woman, whether pregnant or not, intended to cause her miscarriage.
