Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Seizure of Aircraft, The Hague, 16 December 1970
Although the Tokyo Convention includes certain provisions relating to the unlawful seizure of aircraft, these are both general in their terms and limited in their effect. The principal objective of the Tokyo Convention is to ensure that offences and acts which jeopardise the safety of aircraft or persons or property on board or which jeopardise good order and discipline on board aircraft should not go unpunished because of a lack of jurisdiction over the person or persons responsible. To this end it sets out detailed rules as to jurisdiction.
