Law Publishing and Legal Scholarship: A Case Study

This paper is based on the experience of the Society of Public Teachers of Law Working Party on Law Publishing. It may seem ironic to present a study of a relatively wealthy and certainly not small jurisdiction in the present volume, but as will become clear, the economic pressures of recent years have forced legal academics in the UK to face many of the problems with which their colleagues in small jurisdictions have long been familiar. It will also, I hope offer not only a case-study of problems, but of the way in which academics themselves can be actively involved in diagnosing those problems and suggesting ways to resolve them.
