A handbook for education policymakers and practitioners in Commonwealth countries compiled from a Caribbean Early Childhoos Education Conference presented by the Jamaica Teachers Association, Ochos Rios, Jamaica, April 2004, with the support of the Commonwealth Secretariat.

The Parent Partnership

All presenters at the conference emphasised the need for early childhood teachers actively to seek to involve parents in the training of young children. The research shows that involving parents improves student achievement. There is a strong connection between the low involvement of parents and sub-standard school performance.
