The AVU network configuration originates at the studio location on the premises of the content-producing institution, or in a nearby facility leased by the institution. Each content site includes all equipment necessary for the origination of both live and pre-recorded instructional programmes, and for the provision of these programmes to either a local or a remote INTELSAT-compatible uplink earth station. The studio also includes equipment necessary to provide certain levels and kinds of interactivity, such as audio talkback for live programmes, and to facilitate such other related functions as satellite files.
