Capital flows and transfers of technology are a major feature of international economic relations. They take place between countries at all levels of economic development. Developing countries have a particular interest in all forms of international transfer of resources - private investment, direct and portfolio; export credits and other lending on commercial and near-commercial terms (some of it through international agencies such as the IBRD and regional development banks); and technical and capital assistance in the form of grants or loans on concessionary terms.
