Economic and Social Development in Small States

Thirty-one of the Commonwealth’s fifty-three member countries are small states. These states are in the Pacific, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean and Americas. They are therefore a highly diverse group. However, despite this diversity, they share a number of challenges that stem from their small size.
