Renewable Energy Policy Formulation and Implementation

An important and virtually neglected area in the development of renewable energy technologies (RETs) is the formulation of a rational and coherent renewable energy policy, and its implementation. This paper presents a general approach to formulating such a policy. The methodology is based on a series of evaluations of energy demand, renewable energy base, RETs available, sociocultural constraints, economics of RETs, and institutional arrangements.
